Terms & Conditions – One-to-One Dog Grooming
Torbay Dog Spa is a grooming salon from home
These Terms & Conditions are designed to ensure the safety, wellbeing, and comfort of your dog during grooming sessions. By booking an appointment, you agree to the following:
One-to-One Grooming
All grooming is carried out on a one-to-one basis to provide your dog with the highest level of care and attention. (Unless a double appointment is booked for dogs from the same household)
Owners are requested to collect their dog promptly at the agreed time to minimise stress and cross over of clients.
Health & Medical Care
The welfare of your dog is the most important part of the grooming process. A general health check will be completed during the groom for anything visible that maybe concerning. If there is anything of concern I will let you know.
It is your responsibility as dog owner to inform Torbay Dog Spa at the point of booking / before the appointment of any medical conditions, heart conditions, allergies, skin sensitivities, behavioural issues, epilepsy or recent surgeries your dog has undergone.
Grooming can expose hidden skin conditions or health issues for which the groomer cannot be held responsible.
If your dog requires emergency veterinary attention during the groom, the groomer will seek immediate veterinary care. Owners are responsible for all veterinary costs incurred.
It is important that you update Torbay Dog Spa with any new or changing health conditions for your dog to ensure that records can be kept up to date.
Please ensure your dog is up to date with all vaccinations and flea/tick treatments. This is ensure the safety and welfare of your dog and Torbay Dog Spa cannot be held responsible for any illness or disease may encounter whilst being groomed.
Matting Policy
Severe matting is painful for dogs and can cause skin irritation, bruising, or sores. Attempting to de-mat can cause unnecessary stress and discomfort.
In cases of severe matting, I will attempt where possible to call the client and discuss the matting but it is likely that in severe cases the recommendation will shaving the coat short for the welfare of the dog. This may dramatically change your dog’s appearance.
Torbay Dog Spa is not liable for any after-effects of matting removal, such as itchiness, skin irritation, or nicks due to underlying conditions.
An extra fee may be charged for the additional time and equipment required to deal with matting.
I would be happy to discuss ways to prevent matting in the future.
Parasites
If fleas or ticks are discovered during grooming, the dog will be treated immediately, and an additional fee’d may apply to cover cost of post groom clean/ De Flea.
Owners are strongly advised to maintain a regular parasite prevention program.
Late Arrivals, Cancellations & No-Shows
At Torbay Dog Spa we totally understand they sometimes life happens and missed appointments / late arrivals are unavoidable however we ask that you arrive at the time of your scheduled appointment.
Late arrivals of more than 15 minutes may result in the appointment being cancelled and a fee charged.
Cancellations require at least 24 hours’ notice. Failure to provide notice may result in a cancellation fee.
No-shows will be charged the full grooming fee before another appointment can be booked.
Aggressive or Difficult Dogs
If a dog shows aggression or is too stressed to continue, Torbay Dog Spa reserves the right to stop the session for the safety of both the dog and groomer.
Please be honest at the start of the appointment if your dog can be aggressive or doesn’t like a particular treatment to ensure that the service is best suited and safe for your dog and me!
In some cases a handling fee may apply for dogs requiring additional time or restraint.
Liability
All grooming is carried out with the dog’s safety and wellbeing as the top priority.
Torbay Dog Spa is not responsible for any pre-existing conditions, injuries, or behavioural issues that arise before, during, or after the grooming session.

Pricing is assessed based on the breed, size, coat length and condition. Also the temperament and behaviour of the dog.
